For routine care of a PrintMyPad printed fabric desk mat, remove loose debris gently and spot-clean with cool water and a small amount of mild soap when needed. Handle the surface and stitched edges gently, remove soap residue and let the mat air dry completely before using it again.
This guidance applies to PrintMyPad's polyester-surface, rubber-backed mats. Leather, coated synthetic leather and felt can require different care. Follow any specific instructions supplied with your order and ask us about an uncertain stain before using a stronger treatment.
Routine surface care
Move electronics and loose accessories away before cleaning. Lift loose crumbs and dust using a soft brush, cloth or suitable lint roller without aggressive pulling at the fabric. Wipe the desk as well as checking the underside of the mat; trapped grit can affect the surface below it.

Avoid scrubbing the same printed area hard or catching the stitched edge with a rough tool. More force is not necessarily a better cleaning method.
After an ordinary spill
Deal with electronics according to their instructions first. Remove accessories, lift the mat and blot excess liquid. Clean the desktop so moisture or residue is not left underneath. Keep the mat away from powered equipment while it is wet.
Work gently with cool water and mild soap, then remove the residue with clean water. Avoid bleach, solvents and harsh cleaners. A stain's behavior depends on the substance and time elapsed, so this process is not a promise that every mark will disappear.
Allow enough time for drying
Let the mat air dry fully in a well-ventilated location, supported in a way that avoids sharp folds or stretching. Keep it away from direct high heat. Do not return it to the desk while either the fabric or underside is damp.
Drying time varies with the room and how much water was used. Check the whole mat rather than setting a universal timer. Wipe and dry the desktop and accessories before rebuilding the setup.
What to avoid
- Aggressive abrasion, scraping and pulling at the stitching.
- Bleach, strong solvents or an unverified chemical cleaner.
- High-heat drying or using a heater to force the process.
- Storing the mat damp or tightly compressed against sharp objects.
- Assuming an extended desk mat is a trivet, cutting mat or food-preparation surface.

Make care part of the setup
